1st graders receive free scholastic books
First graders at WCA South had some huge smiles on their faces when they found out they would be receiving a brand new, free book EVERY month this school year from Scholastic book orders! Mrs. Wetterling’s friends, family, and community members volunteered to sponsor one of her students so that every child’s home library could grow this year! These generous people realize the importance of reading and exposure to books! The first title that came home was “If You Give A Mouse A Brownie” written by Laura Numeroff! As Mrs. Wetterling handed one student his book, the child responded, “Really?! I get to keep this forever?!” The smiles were priceless! Next week the students will use their expanding writing skills to write thank you cards to their sponsors! Happy Reading, 1st graders!
